Alpha Sign Systems worked with Zest Design & Marketing to produce the signage for The Forum located in Birmingham City centre. The 11 storey building comprises of 334 apartments. The brief was to manufacture and install the external building signage and internal way finding along with featured communal signage. The High level sign would be installed over 30m from ground level meaning we needed to obtain the make-up of the building and determine and installation method with the help of structural engineers.

Our studio designed the framework that would align with the concrete slab of building. This meant that we had adequate fixing points with the installation method approved by the structural engineer. We needed to go through the 10mm Roc Panel at high level, past the air gap and through the insulation into the concrete slab to install M24 threaded rod fixed with chemical resin anchor. The sign frame was then lifted into position with assistance from a rope specialist team with Alpha engineers installing from powered access.

Zest Design & Marketing produced the visuals showing the branding across the Birmingham skyline. Alpha Sign Systems created all details scaled drawings for planning and submitted the application for approval.

Using our state of the art Solidworks package we put together detailed manufacturing and production visuals. The signage consisted of 100mm deep rim and return, powder coated aluminum letters with Opal acrylic letters to the face. Internally illuminated via bright white LEDS. Letters mounted onto an aluminium frame to the structural engineers specification.

The high level sign sits proudly at the top of the building. The deep profile letters gives the floating appearance on the contrasting Grey clad panels. To compliment the entrance, we manufactured a smaller, portrait version with the exception of the rimless design.

The vertical building sign consists of 80mm deep fabricated aluminium letters with Opal acrylics faced. Internally illuminated via bright white LEDs. All of our components have a three year manufactures warranty or 100,000 hours of illumination.

Our engineers are trained for all types of Mobile elevating working platforms (MEWPs). They used a 40m telescopic boom to gain access to the location with the assistance from a rope access team hoist the sign to the location. Ahead of works Alpha obtained all structural and loading information for the roof so our access team could have the correct and safe fixing points

The finished sign sits 30 metres above ground and can be seen from a distance with it's bright white LED illumination.

Zest Design & Marketing produced the internal branding, look & feel. Alpha Sign Systems manufactured the bespoke communal area signage which consisted of Built-up, open faced aluminium letters with Cabochon LED bulbs. The building has an industrial and modern feel to it. Our signage utilised the galvanized cable trunking in-keeping with all other internal elements.

We made a rimless, illuminated sign in the foyer above the concierge desk. This time the sign was mounted onto a stainless steel frame to match the metalwork surrounding the concierge.

We manufactured a second communal sign in the lounge area of the foyer. Returns powder coated Grey with the inside powder coated yellow.
The Cabochon bulbs brings a retro yet modern feel to the breakout area.
